Private health plans and self-insured employers cover a large (approaching 70 percent) and growing segment of the US population. These payers are increasingly sophisticated at analyzing the economics of new medical technologies and using these assessments in reimbursement decisions or in novel cost-control strategies ranging from modest (refined pre-authorizations) to paradigm-shifting (health plans purchasing implants directly from manufacturers). Medical technology companies must understand stakeholder business models and strategies, and know how best to work with payers to provide valuable medical products at equitable costs.
This unique seminar brings together experts from national and regional health plans, employers, providers, and manufacturers, to discuss how manufacturers can most efficiently and effectively make the case for their products. Learn how the current economic downturn has brought greater focus on new technologies and demands that they be perceived as part of the solution rather than part of the problem. Finally, you will also hear an instructive debate between a major health plan and a major provider delivery system as they perform a live (mock) negotiation regarding a new technology the delivery system has already begun to offer.
